The Difficulty of Educating Children

Educating children today is a more difficult task than in the past because of online games, cell phones, and social networking websites.

Through rapid societal development, massive technological advances have had influences on our lives so much that nowadays even education sectors have been in attempt to incorporate them. Despite the fact that such technologies can adequately applied in education by the means of online database or educational games and more, In fact, education of children these days is a more challenging task compared to that of the past due to online games, cell phones and Social Networking websites. Such contention is founded upon the following two rationalizations.

Out of all, the addictive nature of those electronic activities aforementioned largely disturbs the daily lives of children and further hampers with their studying  time. The three activities are largely known to be irresistibly appealing and owing to such tantalizing attribute, children already susceptible and not vigilant about being obsessed will vulnerably sink in the abyss of addiction. Once trapped in the snare of such online pastimes, the children will remain incapable of repelling their enticement day and night, and seek ways to surreptitiously gain access to them, out of their parents’ scope. Captivated, their head and mind will be filled with urges to play games, use cell-phone and go on the sites, and would fail to completely absorb whatever they learn at school. What they hear from their teachers will just flow in one ear and out the other. What’s more, they can’t pay their full focus on their assignments back at home where they have closer access to such electronic entertainments. Even though they might spend hours being on their desk trying to study, they cannot make full use of time because they are only studying outwardly but thinking about games and others in their mind.

Moreover, the electronic activities’ adverse effect on the health of children should not be underestimated as good education comes from sound body. All of the three require the users to spend a lot of time with electronic devices such as computer or smartphones. Gazing at the small screens of the gadgets, the kids’ eyes, for example, might be weared out and become red. This will cause the eyesight to fall especially because in children, their eyes are on the process of growing thus become easily degenerated compared with the adults. The eyes being constantly fatigued, the children will feel exhausted when trying to focus on small-sized notebooks or textbooks, and consequently give up focusing and take a lot of rest in between study times as they physically feel the pains. Not only do their eyes get irritated but also their distorted posture from holding the device for long impedes proper education. It is natural for youngsters to bend their previously straightened back and stick out their neck as they get immersed in playing games or using phones. Such changes in posture tire one out when trying to sit on chair or concentrate on works. Therefore, the children having enjoyed the pastimes will suffer to attend to their teachers fully mainly because of unsound body, inducing the task of education ever more challenging.

Subsequent to the previous-mentioned assessments and substantiations, it can be firmly stated that educating children nowadays can become of burden and trouble than in the past due to online games, mobile phones and SNS. They disturb both the kids' mind and body, interfering with their concentration and ailing their eyes and posture, making it hard to stay studying. Thus, nothing in my mind regarding the previous issue overweighs the ideas stated above.
